Elf Accessories Australia: Cute Balloon Scene Setter for your Shelf Elf

I've wanted to create a series of easy tutorials that will produce fun scene setter items for your shelf elf for so long...and I've finally gotten motivation (and found some time) to get started!

All the tutorials will include items that are found in most homes..and if they aren't they are VERY easy (and inexpensive) to source.

So let's kick things off with a Super Cute Balloon accessory.

What you'll need:

Water Balloons

Large Paper Clips - I prefer the coloured variety as they look more 'string' like

Long- nose pliers

Step 1:

Blow your balloons up - be prepared they get a little 'staticy'

Step 2:

Straighten out your paperclips

Don't worry if they're not exactly straight - it gives a better string like illusion.

Step 3:

Grab your pliers and approx 1cm down from one end of your straight paper clip give it a twist - don't close it yet though - you just want to create a small 'hook'

Step 4:

pop the now hooked paper clip around the end of the balloon - under the knot as it's the most secure.

Step 5:

Once you've got it hooked around - get your pliers ad give the hook a pinch to close it and secure around the base of the knot (this is the most fiddly bit). be careful not to squeeze the balloon as it might pop

Step 6:

Once the paper clip is secured you place your pliers on the wire and bend it so that you form a sort of '7' shape - this will support the balloon in an upright position and stop it flopping around.
